We believe very strongly in the value of theatre education for students of all ages, and regret having to cancel a class due to bad weather. In the past, we have followed the plan of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools; however, this automatically canceled classes when, by mid afternoon, snow had melted and roads were clear. Therefore, our policy has changed in an attempt to better serve our students. A decision on cancellation will be made by noon on a snowy day, and parents should call our special ACT Weather Line at 748-0857 x 510 to know if classes will be held. In the rare event that snow begins in the afternoon, classes may be cancelled if it is felt that the roads would deteriorate before our dismissal time. Parents and adult class members should always use their best judgment with regard to driving in the snow and ice. Our calendar allows for a few make-up days due to cancellations, but bad weather is an act of nature and not under the control of The Little Theatre or the Education Director, and we may not be able to make up every class.
More About Our Classes for Exceptional StudentsWe believe that theatre reaches its highest potential when at its most inclusive and collaborative. Exceptional students offer a unique perspective on the world, which we want to incorporate into the ongoing story playing out in our community. Exceptional student or not, we all experience great struggles in our day-to-day lives, regardless of age. When we express kindness toward one another, we fulfill our deepest human yearnings for acceptance, creativity and inspiration. Our classroom will be an integrated one, where students of all types can learn, laugh and help one another to understand the world and those with whom we share it via the powerful medium of theatre!
